FAQ’s

Can I have just a ceremony at Aberfeldy Farm & Barn?

Yes depending on your date, and the price will vary depending on how much you wish to use, e.g. chairs, wine barrels, signing table etc

Can I have just a reception at Aberfeldy Farm & Barn?

Of course! But the venue hire price will be the same as if you did have your Ceremony here as well.

What time do people usually get married?

The usual time to get married is 3.30pm with Summer weddings (Dec, Jan, Feb) after 4.30pm, feel free to chat with us about recommendations based on the sunset time, or once you have checked with your photographer.

What about photos?

The Bridal Party and your photographer have 50 acres to take snaps on, we can bring the cows up to be included in your photos if you desire. There are typical country props such as fences, tractors, and hay. Aberfeldy does get brilliant sunsets so to be sure to ask us what time and position is optimum.

We are now starting to get our families returning for maternity shoots and cake smashes and there is never any charge for this as we love seeing you again and helping make memories!

Am I allowed to bring in outside caterers?

Sorry, for practical reasons all catering has to be through our approved list of caterers, except for wedding cakes. They are very flexible, and will meet all your food requirements.

Is there a bar?

There sure is, it is a beautiful Rosewood, Blue gum and white pressed metal bar. The entire bar area is very welcoming and is two way, meaning your guests can access the bar from the outside window as well as from inside the Barn!

You bring all of your beverages in and we provide the staff to serve your guests. We do not sell alcoholic drinks, but can sell non alcoholic beverages and bar snacks if you want us to.

Not only does this result in significant cost reductions for drinks overall, but it means you can offer a much more personalised drink experience for all guests. Many people say this makes a massive difference to their overall enjoyment of the day!

What if it rains?

No matter what time of the year, it’s impossible to predict Toowoomba’s weather. Hopefully, we’ll have a bit of pre-warning if it does decide to rain and then there are a few different options available. We will co-ordinate moving your Ceremony under the Terrace area, it makes for a beautiful all weather ceremony option.

What do we put on Invitations as the location?

The entire address is Aberfeldy Farm & Barn, 124 Macaulay Rd, Westbrook 4350. But if you just put ‘Aberfeldy Farm and Barn’ Google knows us and will direct your guests here. Please encourage your guests to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and to even check-in when they arrive.

How long will I have use of the event space I reserve?

We only hold one function per day, ensuring that you have your booking for the entire day and we can focus on your needs. We can arrange dropping off at the venue 11am - 1pm on the day. We allow certain people to arrive earlier than general guests if they have a job to do. Basically you have a 8 hour hire for Weddings and a 6 hour hire for parties. The Curfew is noise off at 10.30 on Friday & Saturday ‘s due to noise covenants and vacate by 11pm at the latest. Weekday curfew is lower. We ask that all pack up and belongings are picked up before 11am the following morning unless there is a function on the following day, then a revised time will be negotiated.

What time can we drop items off or set up on the day of the wedding?

If there is no function booked for the previous day of your function, you or your vendors are welcome to come in the day before to do your setup. This however cannot be confirmed until 1 month before the wedding. If there is a booking the day before, you will have complete access from 9:30am the morning of your event. However we are not a D.I.Y Venue so there is no need for you to do any setting up as we include that in our Package.

Does the venue offer decorating services?

We can and will set up the tables and chairs to your desired configuration, including table cloths and glassware etc if you hire from us. To ensure your room presentation is perfect, we prefer to leave this up to our stylist. We have extraordinary stylists that we deal with that will make your room absolutely perfect and cover every detail (and one less thing for you to worry about).

Is there parking for guests?

Yes we have sealed disabled parking on the northern side of the barn and we prefer your guests nose in next to these parks. There is parking directly in front of the Barn but if the Ceremony is in front of the Barn doors you will be advised not to park here due to aesthetic purposes when the bridal party arrives and photos. Additional parking is in the top paddock to the West of the driveway.

Do you have any accommodation on the premise?

Unfortunately not! But cottages are coming soon. Toowoomba is between $18 and $30 in a taxi or Uber and they frequent Aberfeldy. The closest place to camp is the Toowoomba Showgrounds. Call Potters Boutique Motel and tell them you have a function at Aberfeldy, and they will look after you. We also recommend Toowoomba Holiday Rentals and if you would like a beautiful larger house with tremendous views contact Helen at The Springs Guest House

Is there disabled access?

Yes, there is a sealed level path into the Terrace and the Barn and to the amenities. This path leads from the disabled parking. For guests that may struggle to walk on the gravel or on the lawns, we recommend they are driven down to the sealed path.

Are there decoration guidelines/restrictions?

All we ask is that all candles are in drip enclosed containers, nothing is nailed into the walls, and only natural confetti please.

The furniture in the Barn can be moved around to suit your style purposes, however we will do all of this for you on request and approval.

Are tables, linens, chairs, plates, silverware and glassware provided?

Yes, we provide all of the above except for glassware. Plates & utensils are through the caterers and will be included in your price per head when they quote you for your event. Glasses can be hired at $1 each. We do not provide chair covers, sashes or centrepieces. The bulk of the items you desire can be hired through our Stylists.

Can I bring in a cake from an outside cake maker? Is there a cake-cutting fee?

Cakes brought from an outside supplier are not a problem at all, however, they cannot be stored at the venue overnight due to limited space and food safety reasons. If you wish for us to cut and plate your cake there are various cakeage options outlined in the packages.

Are there restrictions on what kind of music I can play, or a time by which the music must end? Can the venue accommodate a DJ or live band?

DJ’s or bands are more than welcome, we just ask that they keep the bass down and adhere to any further instructions issued by venue management regarding sound levels.

We are licensed for music until 10.30pm Friday and Saturday evenings and 9.30pm every other day.

Can I hire my own suppliers (coordinator, DJ, etc.) or must I select from a preferred suppliers list? If I can bring my own, do you have a list of recommended suppliers?

You are more than welcome to hire your own vendors (except caterers). We can also provide recommendations on fabulous suppliers we’ve worked with in the past who we have existing relationships with. Again, this really makes planning your event much easier.

Are kids welcome?

Of course children are welcome BUT we ask that parents supervise as Aberfeldy is a working farm and there are the dangers that come with that including livestock, electric fences and open water troughs. If there are more than 4 kidlets between the age of 2 and 12 then we encourage you to assign a designated person to look after them or book a Nanny service not only will they keep an eye on your kidlets they will entertain them and even make sure they are fed & watered!
